What is offsite backup?
Offsite backup is a method of offsite data storage in which files, folders, or the entire contents of hard drives are regularly backed up on a remote server using an internet connection.
The rationale behind offsite backup is simple. By backing up data on remote servers, the risk of catastrophic data loss as a result of fire, theft, file corruption, or other disaster is practically eliminated. With an internet connection and a web browser interface, the remote files and folders appear as if they are stored on an external local hard drive. Today, most organizations are clear about the need to protect their most important asset - their data. Human error, a PC crash, a virus, malicious actions, flood, fire, theft or loss of a laptop - can all too easily put this data and therefore the business at risk.
An offsite backup is a secure, simple and affordable alternative to a traditional tape backup solution. Tape backup solutions can sometimes be effective, but they need upfront investment, ongoing maintenance and internal staff to maintain and operate them. The word 'hassle' best describes tape backups - especially during a crisis when key data is to be recovered without delay. Offsite backup is a modern yet proven solution to this niggling and critical process.

There is no substitute for off premises file backups. That is why major corporations have chosen this method above all others for disaster recovery.
It is efficient, flexible, and secure.
Our solution / how it works
The first step is to fully backup all your important information currently stored on your servers. An engineer will arrive at your premises to copy all data you wish to store, install the server software to automate your offsite backup and give you a tutorial in how to use the software to restore any files or folders that need to be restored with a simple point-and-click. He will also set up the rules to use, including scheduling, encryption level, bandwidth throttling and data retention.
Once the engineer leaves your premises with your encrypted data it is then loaded onto our servers and your offsite backup's can commence. We program the server software to launch at a convenient date for you in the near future.
After the initial full backup of all your data the software regularly scans the designated directories for new and changed files. These, it compresses for efficiency and encrypts using 448-bit financial grade encryption for security. Using your Internet connection the data is then transmitted to our mirrored disk servers.
Your data is verified for integrity before sending and while being sent, then again after it reaches our Servers. This ensures that the copy of the backup that's on your Server exactly matches the copy that was sent to us.
Every day you will receive an email notification of the status of your backup and the current percentage of allocated space you have left on our servers.
How to Restore Data Fast?
Our software is designed to make restores easy and intuitive, ensuring that data can be recovered rapidly and accurately. It has also been designed so anyone, not just technical IT staff, can perform a restore using an easy to understand user interface.
To restore data, simply pick the restore option from the menu, tag the files you want to restore, and then the software restores the files, it's that simple.
More Advanced Features:-
Our software lets you restore any version of your files - not just the latest version. This is part of the exclusive Version Control system built into our software.
The file listing is sorted by Backup Set Name and Backup Date, making it far easier to search for the files to restore. The File Finder feature of our software is extremely powerful. With a single selection you can select ( as examples ) the latest version of all files; only a particular subdirectory; a single drive letter or files who's names match a certain criteria. Files can be untagged the same way. So, you can come up with virtually any set of files you want to restore by using combinations of any or all tagging options. When the files to be restored are all tagged, our software restores them. You have the option of putting files back where they came from, or placing them somewhere else.
We also offer a full restore service, so in the event of a fire, flood, theft you will not have to wait for all of your data to download we will arrive at your premises with all of your data on our servers and we can even assist you to bring your network offsite.
Is offsite backup secure?
backups are encrypted for complete security. Would you want someone to be able to slip one of your backup tapes into a pocket and take it to your competitor? It happens all the time. Tape backups are not generally encrypted, so anyone can read them and gain access to your client database, billing records, payroll, tax info, and everything else on your tape. Our software encrypts all backups for complete security so nobody, not even we, can read them.
All data is encrypted using 448-bit encryption, to ensure that data is secure from the moment it leaves your server, to storage at our servers, through restores back to your servers. This ensures that your data is always protected with data encrypted in transit, and while in our secure datacentre. The data can only be decrypted using a key you control.
With our services and software your data is protected every step of the way using state-of-the-art security, including AES encryption, VPN tunnelling and digital certificates.
Is your data stored securely?
When it comes to security, we refuse to compromise. Our facilities feature totally comprehensive 24/7 security to keep your data 100% safe. This means we have the protection of security barriers, 24x7x365 monitoring by on-site personnel to include visual verification of all persons entering the building, CCTV video camera surveillance and a security breach alarm provides the control room with information.
Access to the buildings, data floors and individual area's are via individually programmed Proximity Access Cards (PAC) , usage of the PAC is logged centrally by time and date. The cards cannot be used by anyone else, whenever a card is swiped over the sensors to gain access to the building, a digital photograph will be displayed on our security systems which are continuously monitored by our on-site security who verify the information and only when satisfied, allow access.
Our policy guarantees all our customers a redundant high-capacity, stable and reliable power supply, with easy scalable expansion in the future. Our datacentre is built to N+1 standard; put simply, this means that if two generators are required to provide non-stop power, then there'll be three installed.
Very early smoke detection apparatus (VESDA) is installed in our facility. These highly sensitive htmlirating smoke detectors are linked to the Building Management system which is monitored continually from a network operations centre, providing very early detection to help avoid fire, loss and business disruption. This is coupled with a gas based fire retardant that is environmentally friendly, to put out fires instantly, without damaging any of our equipment.
For internet connectivity we have 4 independent internet providers on a Tier 1 backbone to ensure your data is always available to you offsite.
Your data is stored on an array of clustered state of the art servers.
